When the music fades and the lights go out,
when the last labored breath's exhaled;
is there a sound, a loud crescendo,
as the person's face is paled?
I think that there is, though not all hear,
for the sound is silently felt;
the loss for the one who has now passed on,
is a hit that's below the belt.
The surge of grief, a gut-wrenching blow,
is something we have to go through;
yet it's the sound of silence as life's notes fall,
that weeps for the person we knew.....
